Poland Intercepts Russian Reconnaissance Plane

The IL-20 was flying over the Baltic Sea with its transponder turned off.

Polish Armed Forces MiG-29 fighters on duty on Wednesday, October 29, carried out visual identification, interception and escort from the area of responsibility of the Russian Il-20 aircraft, which was flying over the Baltic Sea. This was reported in X by the Polish Operational Command.

According to the Polish side, the Russian plane was carrying out a reconnaissance mission in international airspace with its transponder turned off and did not provide a plan of its flight. "The plane did not violate Polish airspace," the report emphasized.

It should be noted that over the past few months unidentified drones have repeatedly appeared in the airspace of Poland and other NATO countries, disrupting the work of international airports, among other things.
