Putin Announced The Successful Test Of The Poseidon Underwater Nuclear Payload Carrier

The head of the Kremlin is lashing out at the sharp reaction from the US.

Putin has announced the testing of the Poseidon underwater unmanned vehicle with a nuclear power unit, TASS reported. The head of state said this during a meeting with servicemen of the 127th separate intelligence brigade of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District at the Mandryk Central Military Clinical Hospital.

Putin called the tests a "huge success." He said that for the first time it was possible not only to launch the vehicle with a launch engine from a carrier submarine, but also to turn on a nuclear-powered propulsion system, with which the Poseidon traveled a "certain" distance. According to Putin, the power of this unmanned vehicle significantly exceeds that of Russia's newest intercontinental missile, the Sarmat. The head of state also emphasized that it is impossible to intercept the Poseidon:

"In terms of the depth of movement of this unmanned vehicle, there is nothing like it in the world, and it is unlikely to appear in the near future. And there are no ways to intercept it. There is no such thing in the world."

Russian authorities earlier announced successful tests of another strategic system - the Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile.

Reminder, US President Donald Trump, while talking to journalists on board his airplane, spoke out about the completion of Russia's tests of cruise Burevestnik nuclear-powered missiles.

The US leader said Moscow is "not playing games" with Washington. In turn, the US is also "not playing games" with Russia.

"They know we have a nuclear submarine - the best in the world - right off their shores. So we don't need a missile to fly 8,000 miles. They're not playing games with us, and we're not playing games with them either. We do missile tests all the time, but like I said, we have a nuclear submarine - we don't need to fire it at those distances. And by the way, I don't think it's appropriate that Putin is making these statements. He should be ending a war that was supposed to last one week and is now approaching its fourth year. That's what he should be doing, not testing missiles," he said
