Actions will be coordinated with Lithuania.
Poland will coordinate with Lithuania on its plans to open two border crossings with Belarus. This was stated by Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė, reports LRT.
- We have already corresponded with the Polish Prime Minister [Donald Tusk. - Editor's note], we will have a longer conversation. The Polish prime minister will definitely coordinate his actions with us, and this is very important," the Lithuanian prime minister said.
She said Warsaw may reconsider its plans to open checkpoints after Vilnius' decision to close the border with Belarus for a month:
- No one expected that we would take such actions and that the hybrid attack would be directed against Lithuania here and now, so each country had its own decisions, but after the events here in Lithuania, apparently, the plans of our neighbors will be adjusted," Ruginenė said.
She added that "everyone lived their own life, but what happened is what happened," and promised to discuss the issue also at a meeting with her Latvian counterpart Evika Silina.
-"I am in constant contact with the Estonian prime minister as well," Ruginenė said.
Reminder, on October 29, the Lithuanian Cabinet of Ministers decided that the Lithuanian-Belarusian border will be closed until November 30 due to the increasing number of cases of meteoprobes arriving with contraband.
The traffic through "Šalčininkai" will be completely stopped, and through "Miadininkai" - As now, diplomats and persons carrying diplomatic mail, transit passengers to and from Kaliningrad, citizens of Lithuania and other EU countries, foreigners with residence permits or humanitarian visas will be able to cross the border through it.
It is noted that in exceptional cases, crossing the border will also be possible by agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
In addition, Lithuanian Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovich said that Poland, given the situation in Lithuania, will not rush to open border crossings with Belarus. Earlier, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Poland was ready to open two more border crossings with Belarus this year.
