US President Donald Trump signed a bill to publish the classified materials of financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of sex trafficking of minors.
The White House head announced this on his TruthSocial page. Trump recalled that Epstein was indicted in 2019, when he was president, and the financier himself "was closely associated with many prominent figures in the Democratic Party."
"Perhaps the truth about these Democrats and their ties to Jeffrey Epstein will soon be known," Trump noted.
"The Epstein File Transparency Act," which the White House head signed, obliges the DOJ to declassify the entire body of materials from the federal investigation into the financier within 30 days. It was originally introduced by Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Ro Khanna in Congress in July. But it wasn't until Nov. 13 that a cross-partisan group of congressmen got it to a vote through a procedure that bypassed consideration of the bill in select committees. On Nov. 18 and 19, the bill was almost unanimously approved by both houses of Congress and sent to the president for his signature.
