Z-bloggers Accused Gerasimov Of Lying To Them

There are battles for Kupyansk.

Russian General Staff chief Valery Gerasimov's statement about taking control of Kupyansk in Kharkiv Oblast is being rejected not only by Ukrainian military - it has also been met with skepticism by Russian bloggers who support the war, BBC.

Gerasimov reported to Putin under cameras the day before about the capture of a key town in the Kharkiv region.

"Gerasimov's statement about the complete liberation of Kupyansk has not yet been illustrated by objective control footage," a pro-war official said in a statement to the media.

"Military informant" called Gerasimov's report to Putin "riding ahead of the locomotive," while "Visionary Channel" wrote that "the NSH's statements about the complete liberation of Kupyansk [...] are, to put it mildly, shocking."

Already on Wednesday, the claims about the capture of Kupyansk were called "eyewash" by Rybar, a channel close to the Russian Defense Ministry.

This is not the first time that reports from the Russian military command have not been confirmed by reports from the field, and this has already happened with regard to Kupyansk. In late August, summarizing the results of the spring-summer campaign, Gerasimov said that half of the city had already been captured.

Thanks to the advantage in manpower - the main factor of success in war - the Russian army is advancing in several directions at once - for example, in Pokrovsk and the Gulyaypol area. However, the advance is not very fast. Troops are forced to use tactics of infiltrating through loose, often pockets of defense in small groups, and the Ukrainians are holding their positions, even in dire straits.
