"Ukraine Fights For Its Own, Wherever They Are"

The GSD commented on the release of Ukrainians from Belarusian prisons.

Ukrainian citizens, returned on November 22, were mostly accused of supporting their country in Belarus, a representative of the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate (GID) Andrei Yusov said on Ukrainian television.

"This time 31 citizens were returned from the territory of Belarus," the Ukrinform news agency quoted the representative as saying. - These are civilian men and women who were held in Belarus in various conditions. Some of them were facing really long prison terms. Predominantly [these are] people who were held for their pro-Ukrainian stance, accused of aiding and abetting Ukraine."

According to Yusov, the youngest released Ukrainian spent two years in captivity, and the girl was detained when she was 16 years old. "And they accused her, in fact, of supporting Ukraine and because she tried to do some things on the territory of Belarus in violation of the law," he said. We are talking about Maria Misyuk, whom Belarusian human rights activists recognized as a political prisoner.

All those released are already on the territory of Ukraine, emphasized the representative of the Defense Ministry's GSD. He noted that they are "people of different fate," including "residents of the temporarily occupied territories, who ended up in Belarus."

"Among the released there are also seriously ill, in particular, with oncology. There are people with a clear civic position. Today, everyone is provided with the necessary assistance. This operation has been completed, it is an extremely important event. Once again we show the whole world that Ukraine fights for its own, wherever they are," Yusov emphasized.
