Stone Log is packed to the gills.
The culmination of the multi-day confrontation between Lithuania and Belarus ended not with a new round of conflict, but with the fact that Lithuanian trucks just took off and went home. But the whole story revealed much more than a dispute over parking lots, writes the "Belarusians and the Market".
First, Minsk and Vilnius exchanged claims like two neighbors in a parking lot who didn't share a space. Lukashenko demanded that Lithuanian carriers pay 120 euros per day for idle time. Lithuania responded in the mirror: there would be lawsuits for the losses of carriers caused by delays created by the Belarusian authorities.
Inland interpreted this as a demonstrative attempt to put pressure on Vilnius. In Lithuania, it was perceived as a deliberate creation of a barrier to show "who owns the road."
Lithuanian trucks began to leave the places of long-term parking in Belarus and return home through two checkpoints Kamenny Log-Miadinenkai and Beniakoni-Shalchinenkai.
Association of Intermodal Transportation and Logistics AIPL reports: Kamenny Log is full of Lithuanian trucks. The Lithuanian side has not yet increased the capacity of Myadinenkai, and every truck is sent for X-ray. Customs operates strictly according to instructions, which stretches the process.
