An Orsha Man Derailed A Train

In August this year, an intoxicated resident of Orsha was walking along the railroad tracks and suddenly decided to switch three manual switches to the neutral position. According to the General Prosecutor's Office, such actions created a risk of train derailment, which eventually happened. The diesel locomotive and the first car derailed, their mechanisms, switches and part of the railroad bed were damaged.

39-year-old resident of Orsha was detained shortly after the incident. He explained that he wanted "just to see" how the drivers would react to an unusual situation. Previously, the man worked as a mechanic at the depot.

For such an "experiment" he will have to pay 18 thousand rubles as compensation. In addition, the court appointed him 2 years and 7 months of "chemistry" and compulsory treatment for alcohol addiction.
