Lukashenko released 123 political prisoners. This became known today, December 13. Among those released - ex-banker Viktor Babariko, Maria Kolesnikova, Nobel Peace Prize winner Ales Bialiatski, Maksim Znak, Pavel Seviarynets, editor-in-chief of the portal tut.by Marina Zolotova, political scientist Alexandr Feduta, human rights activists Valentin Stefanovich, Vladimir Lobkovich, Elena Gnauk, Maria Batalionok (Lithuania), Anna Sokolenko (Latvia), Alexander Syritsa (Australia), Nakanishi Masatoshi (Japan), Roman Galuza (Poland), Natalya Bielska (USA). 114 of them were taken to the territory of Ukraine. Only Ales Bialiatski and seven foreign citizens were taken to Lithuania.
It is reported that citizens of Great Britain, the United States, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Australia and Japan have also been released.
The United States is lifting sanctions on Belarusian potash. This was announced by US presidential envoy John Cole at a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko on December 13.
"In accordance with President Trump's instructions, the United States is lifting sanctions on potash. I think this is a very good move on the part of the US for Belarus. We are lifting them now," John Cole said.
