A terrorist attack occurred in Sydney, Australia, in which two assailants opened fire on people who were celebrating Hanukkah. One of the armed terrorists was defeated by a random passerby. The man lunged at the intruder and took away his weapon.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed respect for the man's act.

"A very, very brave man who went head-on against one of the gunmen and saved many lives. A very brave man, now in hospital, injured. Huge respect to this man for what he did," Trump said.
