This was announced by the Interior Ministry of Poland.

About 100 people passed through the tunnel dug under the fence at the border from Belarus to Poland on December 11, 40 of them are still wanted.

According to RMF24 Poland's Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Czeslaw Mroczek.

He said the Polish side is "reconfiguring the system" in connection with the incident so that it at the border "properly counteracts this new method by detecting such tunnels in advance."

At the same time, Mroczek noted that for more than half a month now, Polish services have "practically not recorded any attempts to cross the border illegally."

The deputy minister also said that since the beginning of the year, Poland has registered about a hundred cases of intrusion into the airspace from the territory of Belarus by balloons carrying smuggled products:

"The scale of smuggling of goods [by air] <...> is still small compared to other, traditional methods <...>, primarily attempts to import. In this regard, to a large extent, it has political purposes."

When asked about Polish prisoners in Belarus and U.S. involvement in negotiations for their release, Mroczek said that the U.S. side had consulted with the Polish side. "First on the list" is the name of political prisoner journalist and activist of the Union of Poles of Belarus Andrzej Poczobut, he said. In addition to him, there are other Polish citizens, said the deputy minister.

- We clearly formulate our expectations to the Belarusian side, the requirements to release all political prisoners, all, in particular, Poles," he said.
