The Ukrainian military has regained control over 16 square kilometers of territory in the northern part of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region.
This the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky reported.
Speaking at the 32nd meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine "Ramstein", he described the situation on the front as difficult. According to Syrskyy, despite significant losses, Russian troops continue offensive actions, but "significant operational successes have not been achieved."
The commander-in-chief recalled that earlier Ukrainian forces "managed to push back the occupants from Kupyansk and establish control over almost 90 percent of the city's territory."
Talking about the Pokrovsk direction, Syrskyy emphasized: "The enemy has been trying to capture Pokrovsk for more than 17 months. However, Ukrainian units hold the defense and intercept the initiative. As a result of counter-offensive actions, control over 16 square kilometers in the northern part of the city was restored. Also, 56 square kilometers of territory in the areas of the settlements of Grishino, Kotlino and Udachnoye west of Pokrovsk were liberated".
