Maduro Made An Urgent Call To The UN Secretary General
Nicolás Maduro

Lukashenko's friend complained about threats from the United States.

Venezuela's dictator Nicolas Maduro has called with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, according to the press office of the head of the world organization. Maduro told him "about tensions in the region" due to US threats that could lead to dangerous consequences.

"During the conversation, the secretary general reiterated the UN position on the need for member states to respect international law, in particular the UN Charter, exercise restraint and de-escalate tensions to preserve regional stability," the press service said.

Today, US President Donald Trump pledged that the US will continue to concentrate military forces around Venezuela until the country's authorities "return to the United States all the oil, land and other assets they previously stole" from the United States. He also declared a "full and comprehensive" blockade of oil tankers to Venezuela, which is under U.S. sanctions.

According to journalist Tucker Carlson, the U.S. president could declare war on Venezuela on the night of December 18.
