The presidents of the United States and Ukraine are holding talks at Mar-a-Lago.

At the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, the fourth meeting this year between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has begun.

The two sides are discussing an updated version of a "peace plan" to resolve Russia's war with Ukraine. Before Trump and Zelensky met, the American president called Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

At the start of the meeting, Trump met Zelensky on the porch of his estate and they took a photo together.

Trump said he believes both Putin and Zelensky want to make a deal. "I think they're both [committed to peace]," he added.

The American president also noted that there would be a safeguards agreement between the two sides. "We will have a great meeting today," Trump believes.

After the meeting, Trump promised to call Vladimir Putin. He expressed the view that Russia allegedly appreciated the United States' mediation in the Ukrainian settlement.

Zelensky was asked whether he was willing to make territorial concessions. He did not answer the question directly, but noted that the issue of territories is in the 20-point peace plan prepared by the Ukrainian and U.S. teams. "Yes, we will discuss these points too," the Ukrainian president replied.

There are no deadlines on the deal, Trump added. "My deadline is to end this war," the White House head emphasized.

There will be economic benefits for Ukraine, the American president also said. He reminded that the country is facing a large-scale reconstruction and has significant resources in doing so.

The negotiations are now at the final stage, Trump said. "Either this conflict will end or it will go on for a very long time and millions more people will be killed. Nobody wants that," Trump said.

The leaders then withdrew for further talks behind closed doors. At the same time, Trump suggested reporters grab a bite to eat while awaiting the outcome of the talks. "Take them outside. Tell the chef. Give them some lunch, okay? Thank you, press," Trump said.
