"Gerbera" Or "Parody": Ukrainian Expert Told What UAV Flew Into Minsk

A decoy drone fell in the Belarusian capital.

A drone crashed in Minsk's Dombrovka neighborhood. On the night of July 29, it crashed into a residential house.

Why is it not an AFU drone, as the Lukashenko regime claims? The website Charter97.org spoke to Ukrainian military and political observer of the group "Information Resistance" Alexander Kovalenko about this:

- It doesn't look like a Ukrainian drone at all. Although, obviously, it came exactly from the territory of Ukraine. But externally, what crashed there looks more like a decoy drone. Either a Gerbera or a Parody. It's probably a Gerbera. But, again, we shouldn't rule out the "Parody" option, because these are cheap drones. They have no combat parts. Their main task is to act as decoys.

They have a Luneberg lens installed, which imitates a larger object. For example, the size of a Shahed 136. These drones are quite primitive.

The Gerbera is made of Styrofoam. And, in general, they are easily "strangled" by REB complexes. Every morning, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gives a report on how many drones were shot down and intercepted, i.e. there is such a category as "locationally lost".

And the locationally lost drones are those that were "strangled" by REB systems. Approximately 90% of those strangled by REBs are decoy drones. But sometimes it happens that they go off course. That is, they don't fall down, being "strangled", they go off course, change their flight path.

We saw just recently, as one of these flew over Vilnius. Here I can explain the situation in this way. When it flew over the territory of Belarus, Minsk got in touch with Moscow and made a request about what to do. It was explained to them that it was a decoy drone, it posed no threat. If it is made of Styrofoam, no one will shoot it down with a missile, which costs tens of thousands of dollars, or raise an airplane or helicopter to intercept a piece of Styrofoam.

But it created a resonance in Vilnius, so I think that the Lukashenko regime will be more careful about this kind of flights. They will at least try to intercept them. I think there was just such a situation: a decoy drone flew in from the territory of Ukraine, which was "strangled" by the REB system, and actually entered the airspace of Belarus.

- Could it have been a provocation by Russia?

- I don't think there was a provocation by Russia. It was just passivity on the part of Lukashenko's regime when they got the answer that it was a decoy drone.

They were just waiting for it to run out of fuel, fall in the forest, or drown somewhere in a swamp. The first time the drone managed to fly to Lithuania, and now it has fallen in Minsk, posing certain risks to the civilian population. A piece of foam plastic that falls from a height of 300-500 meters, taking into account the fact that there is a Luneberg lens, engine and other components, poses a threat.
