Ukraine "closed" The Airspace Over Moscow And St. Petersburg

Hundreds of flights, including those to Belarus, have been canceled or delayed at major airports in Russia.

At airports in Moscow, more than 370 flights have been delayed due to this morning’s drone attacks. This was reported by MSK1.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that 403 UAVs attacked the Moscow Region on the night of October 10.

“Most of them were neutralized by air defense forces at a distance. Twenty-five drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow,” Sobyanin said.

Vnukovo International Airport suspended arrivals and departures at 8:11 a.m. Moscow time. Flights resumed half an hour later.

According to MSK1, as of 10:00 a.m., 54 departures were delayed at Vnukovo, and 66 flights were late arriving. Twenty-one flights were canceled.

Sheremetyevo Airport also imposed restrictions for half an hour “due to a ‘carpet’ alert.”

“Sheremetyevo Airport.” Passengers are sleeping on mats on the floor and on the moving walkways. Due to the threat of UAVs, airports were temporarily closed; schedules are currently being adjusted, and flights are being rescheduled or canceled,” reported the Telegram channel “Caution, Moscow.”

According to the online flight board, the 8:25 a.m. flight from the Russian capital to Minsk was canceled. Departures scheduled for 2:15 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:25 p.m. have been delayed.

The 9:25 a.m. flight from Minsk to Moscow has been canceled.

Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg has also changed its flight schedule due to the drone attack on Moscow.

“Due to the airspace restrictions previously imposed in Moscow (and the Moscow Region), the flight schedule for this route is being adjusted. These temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure flight safety,” Pulkovo Airport stated.

The 7:00 p.m. flight from St. Petersburg to Minsk has been canceled, as has the 7:30 p.m. return flight.

The day before, restrictions on aircraft arrivals and departures were also imposed at Moscow airports. Against this backdrop, a plane that had departed from Minsk returned and landed at the national airport.

In Moscow, due to a drone attack Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plane, on which he was returning from Turkmenistan, was unable to land. The plane diverted to St. Petersburg for landing and later flew on to Moscow from there.
