He was gathering data for the Russian Federation.

In the United Kingdom, Teddy Yang, a 24-year-old Royal Navy officer, has been charged with attempting to pass confidential information about the country’s defense and intelligence to Russia. This was reported by The Times, citing the London Police’s Counter-Terrorism Command.

Petty Officer 1st Class Teddy Young began working for Naval Intelligence in April 2024, at which time he was granted a high-level security clearance. According to police, from November 2024 to May 2025, he “gained access to classified information, copied it, and saved it” with the intent of passing it on to a foreign power. The police statement does not specify, however, whether the sailor actually transmitted this classified information or was merely intending to do so.

Following his arrest, Teddy Young appeared before a magistrate in London, who ordered him to remain in custody until his next court hearing, scheduled for October 16.

A spokesperson for the British Navy declined to comment on the situation, stating that it would be “inappropriate” at this stage of the investigation.
