SBU Hit By Important Gorky NPS In Russia: New Details

A massive fire broke out.

On the night of Thursday, April 23, drones of the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center hit the Gorky oil pumping station in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region.

Sources in the SBU told RBC-Ukraine.

NPS Gorky is an important link in the oil transportation system of Russia and is part of the structure of JSC Transneft - Upper Volga.

The station transports oil through trunk pipelines, in particular along the direction Surgut - Gorky - Polotsk. It provides pumping of raw materials to domestic routes, in particular to the Lukoil refinery in Kstovo.

According to preliminary data, three oil tanks were damaged as a result of the impact. A large-scale fire with an area of 20,000 square meters broke out.

"The impact of such systemically important stations creates serious disruptions in the logistics of oil supplies within Russia. The operation of trunk pipelines is disrupted, the efficiency of refining at refineries is reduced and transportation costs rise," the source stressed.

He noted that, as a result, this directly affects the Russian budget revenues, which are used to finance the war against Ukraine.
