President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen welcomes the decision of the EU Council to grant Ukraine a 90 billion euro loan and the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. She wrote this on social media X

"We are heading to Cyprus with good news. I welcome the member states' agreement on a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine for 2026-27 and on the 20th sanctions package," the statement said.

Fon der Leyen emphasized that "while Russia is doubling down on its aggression, we are doubling down on our support for the brave Ukrainian nation, allowing Ukraine to defend itself and putting pressure on Russia's war economy."

"We will now move towards rapid implementation on both fronts," she added.
