The Terrorist Attack In Kiev: The Full Chronology Of Events Has Been Established

What was the "trigger"?

The investigation has established the full chronology of events during the terrorist attack in Kiev on April 18 and formed a detailed portrait of the attacker's identity.

According to RBC-Ukraine with reference to Telegram of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko.

What is known about the shooter

The shooter is a native of Moscow, b. 1968, a military pensioner. From 1992 to 2005, he served in the AFU in various positions in the maintenance of automotive equipment. Major retired.

After the beginning of the Russian aggression he moved to Kiev from Bakhmut.

He had a criminal record, but owned two registered carbines and a traumatic pistol.

The last weapon permit was obtained on the basis of a supposedly journalist's certificate issued by a public organization. The circumstances of obtaining a weapons permit are now being checked by the SBU.

Analysis of the contents of the killer's cell phone showed systematic preparation for the mass shooting. The discovered video recordings show him practicing at home the skills of quickly putting his weapon on alert and target shooting.

He accompanied his actions with aggressive monologues: he called people "pigs" whom he "will piss", used hate speech against Ukrainians, shouted Nazi greetings and called for violence on ideological grounds.

The attacker showed a special dislike for his neighbor, whom he disparagingly called "director of the sixth". He was the first victim of the attack.

What happened on the day of the attack

"The trigger" of the April 18 tragedy was another dispute over the intercom, which the killer repaired personally, but after that some residents could not get into the house.

In the conflict at the entrance, the attacker first opened fire with a traumatic weapon, wounding several people.

When the ammunition ran out, he threw away the gun, went up to his apartment, took a firearm, set fire to the room and returned to the street, where he continued shooting.

In front of the house, the shooter killed a neighbor and a cab driver. He also wounded the first victim's son, his wife, her own sister and a janitor who was covering the child. The sister and the janitor subsequently died of their fatal wounds.

The intruder recorded his actions on audio. After the first murders, the man continued firing as he moved toward the supermarket and shot two more people. At the same time, he selectively warned individual passersby to run away "because there's going to be gunfire".

In the store, the attacker walked between rows, threatened people with guns and shot an employee. In addition, 5 other people were injured in the store.

Barricaded with hostages, he approached a currency exchange clerk demanding that she immediately leave the cash register and call a representative to negotiate. The man threatened to shoot the door and kill the woman if she refused. He was not interested in money, shouting: "Get out of the cash register, I will not take your dollars".

The man justified all his actions by "self-defense" from the alleged group attack of four people at the entrance, claiming that he was "attacked by young men with women".

The man appealed to his military experience and the rank of major, saying that he "could not tolerate it any longer". At the same time he demonstrated extreme cynicism, commenting on the murder of his neighbor: "He is already dead, his brains are lying there."

The attacker was eliminated during the assault by special forces.

The terrorist attack killed seven people. There are still 7 injured in hospital.

The investigation checked the version about the attacker's possible links with Russian special services. Now such ties have not been established.

Final conclusions about the motives, mental state and sanity of the shooter at the time of the crime will be made after the completion of postmortem forensic psychological and psychiatric examinations.
