A Large Belarusian Bank Introduced A Strange Innovation

The restriction is reminiscent of the rule of the deficit times.

Belarusbank announced changes in the rules of servicing its cards, which will affect many customers. The main change is the limitation of the number of cards of one type. Now each Belarusian will be entitled to issue only one card of any type in the bank, writes "Telegraf".

"Each client will be issued no more than one card of each type (including bank products, Clubs, "Magnit" and installment cards "Magnit"), regardless of the currency of the account and the form of issue," reads the announcement on the official website of the financial institution.

Open a card again will be possible not earlier than 3 months before the expiration date. Such rules will work from June 1, 2026 . What will happen to those customers who already have several cards of the same type, the bank did not specify.

But the company assured that most customers "significant changes" in the daily use of bank cards will not feel at all. They emphasized that the restrictions themselves are primarily aimed at fighting the so-called "dropper" schemes.

Droppers (from the English drop - to drop, drop) - are fake persons used by fraudsters to withdraw, cash out or transfer stolen money. They receive funds on their cards and then withdraw or transfer them further, thus becoming participants in a criminal scheme to cash out "easy money".

"The main changes are aimed at improving the security of banking transactions, reducing the risk of fraud. Many innovations will help to detect and block dubious transactions faster, protecting your funds," explained the customers in Belarusbank.

There are other changes on cards, announced by the bank from June 1:

changes in the list of grounds for suspension or termination of card transactions - including blocking (the exact list has not been announced yet),

changes in the order of exemption from monthly and annual card maintenance fees (now the volume of non-cash payments on a particular card or using its details will be taken into account),

changes in the terms of issuance of Belkart-Premium card (now this card can't be serviced free of charge upon presentation of a military card),

changes in the order of confirmation of card receipt,

By the way, the National Bank of Belarus announced last week about the possible introduction of a limit on the number of bank cards a person can own. So it is not excluded that Belarusbank will not be the only Belarusian bank, which introduces such restrictions into its practice.
