British Authorities Called Rumors Of Starmer's Imminent Resignation "nonsense"

He will remain prime minister until at least the start of the summer vacation.

British Culture Minister Lisa Nandy has said that Keir Starmer will remain prime minister until at least the start of the summer recess, despite rumors of his departure. In an interview with Sky News, Nandy called discussions about Starmer's possible resignation "feverish speculation."

She said there is a formal mechanism in the British Labor Party to change the leader, but so far no one has used it.

"Much of this talk has turned out to be just noise and nonsense," the minister said.

Nandy added that the government needs to focus on work, not internal conflicts. At the same time, the minister noted that the final decision on Starmer's political future should be made by himself.

Kir Starmer earlier rejected the possibility of leaving after the Labor Party's weak results in local elections. Against this background, British media reported about possible pressure on the prime minister within the party. In particular, several ministers, including Interior Minister Shaban Mahmood, urged Starmer to name a timeline for a possible resignation. Among the potential rivals of the prime minister Bloomberg named the mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham.
