Putin Announces Shield Of Union Exercise Between Russia And Belarus

The Russian dictator hopes to hold them in 2027.

Russia and Belarus plan to hold a joint military exercise "Union Shield" in 2027. This was announced by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin at a video conference with Alexander Lukashenko during joint nuclear exercises.

Putin noted that the countries are working on self-defense on all fronts. Among other joint military events, he singled out the exercises of the CSTO's Collective Rapid Reaction Force "Interaction-2026" in Russia and the CSTO peacekeeping force "Unbreakable Brotherhood-2026" in Belarus.

The latest joint exercise "Shield of the Union" was held from September 22 to 26, 2023 in Russia. The events are held alternately on the territory of both countries. During the exercise, the countries practice joint combat operations to defend the "union state." Tens of thousands of servicemen, aviation, tanks, armored vehicles and air defense equipment take part in the "Union Shield."

From May 19 to 21, Russian and Belarusian troops hold exercises on the training and use of nuclear forces. Vladimir Putin noted that this is the first joint training of the two countries on the management of strategic and tactical nuclear forces. It involves more than 64 thousand servicemen, more than 7.8 thousand units of weapons, military and special equipment.
