Media: Putin Is Planning A "Small-Scale Invasion" Of NATO In The Coming Months

Military experts believe that Russia could launch strikes against cities and towns in NATO countries as early as the coming months. A ground invasion is also one of the possible scenarios.
Russia may attempt to capture a city or part of the territory of Poland or one of the three Baltic states. This is reported by Express.
Former British military officer Hamish de Bretton-Gordon suggested that Russia might carry out a “small-scale invasion” of Latvia or Estonia.
Meanwhile, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda recently stated that he has information about possible Russian military actions against the Baltic states. According to him, this would not be a large-scale attack, but rather targeted strikes on critical infrastructure.
Also last month, the U.S. warned that the Kremlin is preparing an armed invasion of Poland. According to U.S. sources, Russian troops could cross the Polish border while simultaneously launching missile and drone strikes against critical infrastructure.
Polish security experts have also noted that Russia and Belarus could deploy a small number of troops across the Polish border. During such an invasion, the invaders could launch strikes against power plants. According to analysts, Moscow’s strategy is based on the assumption that the U.S. would force Poland to negotiate rather than engage in military confrontation.
Natia Seskuria, a senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defense Studies , believes that Putin will most likely continue to put pressure on NATO countries through hybrid attacks that would not constitute sufficient grounds for invoking Article 5.
According to her, Russia is already using sabotage, violations of NATO airspace, and cyberattacks to test the Alliance’s response. This also allows Moscow to study the operation of NATO’s radars, air defense systems, and decision-making processes without provoking a large-scale military response.
Seskuria believes that if the war in Ukraine continues without a clear end, Russia will likely intensify such attacks. In this way, Moscow will attempt to intimidate NATO countries, wear down their societies, and weaken support for Ukraine.
As a reminder, U.S. intelligence has warned that as early as this fall, Russia could attack one of the NATO countries. This could be either a large-scale hybrid attack or even a “limited” invasion.
