CNN: Iran Has Lost Much Of Its Control Over The Strait Of Hormuz

This prompted Trump to make a high-profile statement.

The U.S. military's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is yielding results, as Iran has lost a significant portion of its control over this shipping route. This is reported by CNN.

It is noted that 80% of all ships passing through the strait traveled via the Oman route. This route is officially authorized by the UN, but Iran actively opposes it. And although Tehran has attacked a significant number of ships that previously transited the strait, shipping companies have resumed operations in the area, relying on the promised protection from the U.S. Navy.

The publication reports that just a few months ago, almost no ships were using the Oman route. Iran had planned to charge a fee for each passage through the strait after the peace treaty with the U.S. expired. However, Tehran has not yet begun receiving money from shipping companies.

It is reported that, to avoid attacks by Iran, ships turned off their transponders. This allowed them to pass through the strait unnoticed, evading traditional monitoring methods. Currently, the U.S. reports that traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has become much higher than previously expected. Specifically, while up to 20 million barrels per day passed through the region before the war in the Middle East, last week that figure had already reached 15 million barrels.

Journalists note that this is most likely what prompted Trump to declare last week that the U.S. “has full control over the strait”. And although this is not entirely true, it is now becoming clear that Iran is also losing full control over this region.
