He was named a Hero of Ukraine.
On one section of the front line in the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone struck a ground-based robotic platform that was evacuating two seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers from the “Code 9.2” regiment. It seemed as though nothing could help them anymore, but then the unexpected happened.
According to the Joint Forces Operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two Ukrainian assault troops successfully completed their combat mission and captured enemy positions. However, while returning, they were attacked by Russian “Molniya” drones. Both soldiers sustained serious injuries and were no longer able to move on their own.
A ground-based robotic platform was dispatched to evacuate them, but a Russian drone attacked and disabled it.
While the command and observation post was looking for a way to get the wounded out of the line of fire, aerial reconnaissance spotted a civilian pickup truck on the road, heading at high speed straight into the danger zone.
At the wheel was Vladislav Polsky, the commander of the assault company. He drove there himself to rescue his soldiers and didn’t even have time to put on his body armor. The commander managed to evacuate the wounded, thereby saving their lives.
For this act, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Vladislav Polsky the title of “Hero of Ukraine.”
“An outstanding story. Great courage. And an example of a commander’s actions worthy of emulation. We must take care of people. Thank you, Vladislav!” said Zelenskyy.
