Russia Is Facing A Severe Shortage Of AI-95 Gasoline

Fuel has disappeared from 80% of Russian gas stations.

Russia is facing a severe shortage of AI-95 gasoline—one of the most popular grades among consumers. Currently, it can be found at only 5,600 out of 26,100, or 22%, of operating gas stations, according to data from the “Benzonaut” service cited by “Infotek.” Last week, the percentage of gas stations where AI-95 was available ranged from 22% to 30%.

In no region does the availability of this grade exceed 50%. The situation is worst in the Sakhalin Region (3%), as well as in the annexed Crimea (2%) and Sevastopol (1%). In Moscow, AI-95 gasoline is available at only 161 of 786 gas stations—that’s 20%. Diesel fuel is available at 392 gas stations in the capital (50%), and AI-92 at 236 (30%). St. Petersburg leads in AI-95 availability (42%), followed by Tatarstan (41%) and the Oryol Region (36%). On average in Russia, a liter of this grade of gasoline costs 71 rubles.

“Benzonaut” monitors gas stations belonging to the largest chains—Lukoil, Rosneft, Gazpromneft, Teboil, Tatneft, Neftmagistrali, Trassy, TamicEnergy, General Fueller, and Shell—collecting data on gasoline availability and lines from drivers and open sources.
