Fire Point: Ukraine Will Be Able To Shoot Down Russian Ballistic Missiles With Its Own Missiles As Early As August

Good news for all Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian company Fire Point may begin mass production of the new FP-7.X anti-aircraft missile—which will form the core of the Freyja missile defense system—as early as August 2026.
The Ukrainian defense manufacturer announced this on its account on the social network X.
According to Fire Point, the first phase of the Freyja project—which aims to develop a new European missile defense system—was completed in early August. It will be capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
In May 2026, Fire Point joined a coalition to counter ballistic threats, which includes European defense companies such as Eurosam, Leonardo, Thales, Saab, and others.
As part of this project, Fire Point is tasked with developing an anti-aircraft missile and its launch system, while the European defense companies will develop various components of the new missile defense system.
To date, Fire Point has signed contracts with 13 companies to develop various components. Fire Point says that mass production of the new FP-7.X anti-aircraft missile for Freyja could begin in August 2026. This will happen after the Ukrainian defense manufacturer receives infrared homing heads from the German company Diehl Defense.
The primary mission of the Freyja air defense system equipped with FP-7.X missiles will be to destroy the Russian ballistic missiles with which the Russian Armed Forces are terrorizing Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are equipped with American Patriot air defense systems capable of shooting down ballistic missiles, but they are facing a shortage of missiles.
