Bloomberg: Putin Will Not Attend The G20 Summit In The U.S.

The "G20" will meet on December 14–15 in Miami.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not plan to attend the G20 summit in the United States. This was reported by Bloomberg citing sources.

However, the agency notes that Putin will attend the APEC summit. In 2026, China will chair the forum, and the summit will take place in Shenzhen on November 18–19. The Russian leader plans to attend the meeting in person for the first time since 2017, Bloomberg reports.

This summer, Marat Berdyev, the Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large, reported that Putin would lead the Russian delegation at the APEC summit.

In April, The Washington Post reported that U.S. President Donald Trump intended to invite Putin to the G20 summit. The latter is scheduled for December 14–15. In early September, Trump stated that he had not yet “thought about” whether to invite his Russian counterpart to the G20 summit. The last time they met in person was at the summit in Anchorage last August.

Both China and the U.S. are members of the APEC forum. The Kremlin did not rule out the possibility that Putin, Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping might hold a trilateral meeting at the APEC summit in Shenzhen; however, there are no such plans.
