Poland Will Open A New Embassy Building In Minsk

Radosław Sikorski met with Belarusian Foreign Minister Ryzhenkov.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed that he met with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

When asked whether such a meeting had indeed taken place, Sikorski confirmed it. He noted that he meets with several dozen foreign ministers at the UN, according to onet.pl.

“The UN is neutral territory,” he said, emphasizing that, for this reason, it is possible to meet here with representatives of countries with which relations are not necessarily established in other contexts.

“This is the first, introductory meeting, but meetings are also taking place between other agencies and at other levels. We will soon be opening a new embassy building in Minsk,” said Sikorski.

When asked about the progress of the meeting and what topics were discussed, Sikorski said that these included, in particular, the situation at the border as well as regional security.

When asked if he had requested that Belarus not allow Russia to fly drones and missiles over its territory, he replied, “Among other things.”
