A Strategic Missile-carrying Bomber Crashed In Russia

An onboard fuel explosion is cited as one of the possible causes.

A Tu-95 strategic bomber and missile carrier crashed in Russia’s Amur Region. TASS reported this, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The crash occurred during a training flight. Six crew members were killed, and one was injured.

The aircraft was flying without a weapons load, the Russian Ministry of Defense noted. However, no preliminary theories regarding the cause of the crash were provided.

The Telegram channel Mash reports that the Tu-95 crashed a couple of minutes after takeoff near the village of Krasnoyarovo. After the crash, the transport aircraft’s fuel tanks exploded, and the plane caught fire. Preliminary reports indicate there were seven people on board—four crew members and passengers.
