Alyaksandr Atroshchankau’s wife summoned to prosecutor’s office

Darya Korsak, the wife of a political prisoner Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, was summoned to appear in the Ministry Prosecutor’s Office on June 10 at 10 a.m.

The reason for that was a complaint of Darya concerning tortures and humiliating treatment of her husband in the KGB jail. She is to give explanations to investigator of special cases from the investigation department of the Belarusian Military Prosecutor’s Office, lieutenant colonel of justice A. V. Khalimau, the wife of the journalist has informed charter97.org.

“I have decided to use my constitutional right and asked a human rights activist Alena Tankachova to accompany me, in order for any pressure to be excluded. I realize that this topic is unpleasant for special services, it was obvious during the previous check, when pressure was put on political prisoners,” Darya says.

Previously Darya filed a petition to the Prosecutor General’s office asking to check information about the facts of tortures. As she learnt from Alyaksandr, an investigator from the prosecutor’s office questioned the prisoner: “When Sasha (Alyaksandr) started to tell about what had been happening in the KGB, the investigator torn the record of interrogation and started to utter threats. Then my husband told he would speak to the investigator in presence of his lawyer only.”

Then she received a letter from the Prosecutor’s office. It was written there that Alyaksandr Atroshchankau refused to give evidence on the facts stated by her. However Darya filed a new complaint against actions of the prosecutor office representative and addressed a demand to carry out investigation on the new circumstances of the case.

We remind that the spokesperson of the presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, was sentenced to 4 years in colony with reinforced regime for “participation in mass unrest”.
