The struggle for the cancellation 2014 World Cup in Minsk continues

Young Norwegian Christian Democrats (KrFU) calls IIHF to not hold the World Cup in Minsk.

This was said in the statement of organization.

"The Norwegian Young Christian Democrats (KrFU) calls on The International Ice Hockey Federation to suspend its plans to hold the 2014 Ice Hockey World Championship in Belarus. Belarus is a gross violator of basic human rights, including brutal crackdowns on the opposition, and is not fit to hold an event of such a magnitude. Holding the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Belarus will legitimize a regime that is rightly called Europe’s last dictatorship, and an event which Mr. Aleksandr Lukashenko will try to use to gain popular support. The situation in Belarus has deteriorated the last couple of years, and it would be fit to react with moving the World Championship somewhere else. KrFU believes that we have to engage and seek contact with the Belarusian people, but we do not have to play with the dictator," - said in the statement.
