Vincuk Viachorka: Putin shortens Lukashenka’s leash

Vladimir Putin demands the Belarusian dictator to speed up the sale of enterprises again.

This is how a member of the organizational committee of Belaruski Ruch, former chairman of BPF party Vincuk Viachorka commented for the charter97.org web-site on the absence of the Belarusian dictator at the CSTO summit in Bishkek and Lukashenka’s meeting with Putin in Astana.

“The Belarusian ruler would not be pleased to see protests against him in a post-Soviet country. In any case, the main was the meeting with Russian leaders. They are the ones who give oil and the certificate for reigning, and Bishkek could wait. Apart from that Lukashenka jacks up his price from time to time. We remember his certain criticisms towards the CSTO. Apparently all the pros and cons were calculated and he only went to Astana”, - the politician believes.

He noted that Putin today claimed the efficiency of the CSTO.

“We would praise all the organizations that Russia has created in the post-Soviet space with itself on top. This goes also for the Russian-Lukashenka’s union state, and the recent integration projects. Lukashenka would rather be more satisfied with an obvious police function of the Colelctive Security treaty Organization, which would stand on guard of dictatorial regimes in former USSR states. But since the organization itself has problems, for example with Uzbekistan, then one should not count on such a function at this moment”, - Vincuk Viachorka noted.

He highlighted that nothing fundamentally new would happen at the meeting in Astana.

“Moscow will once again present the price-lists made of Belarusian enterprises, and Lukashenka will linger with the fatal moment for him, hoping that the Kremlin would allow him to reign a bit more for its own geopolitical benefits. 2 billion dollars, which have not yet been agreed upon, will be given in parts in exchange for concrete steps on selling Belarusian property. We may say that these will be tips and shortening of the leash, which Putin holds the Belarusian ruler on”, - the politician concluded.
