Foreign Investments In Economy Drop By Almost $3 Billion

The volume of foreign investments in the Belarusian economy decreased by $ 2,7 billion in 2016.

During 2016, foreign investors invested $ 8,6 billion in the real sector of the economy (except banks), BelaPAN reports.

In 2015 this figure amounted to $11,3 billion. Thus, the decline of $ 2,7 billion was recorded.

In 2016, major investors were the economic entities of Russia (51,5% of all investments), the UK (17,1%) and Cyprus (7,3%).

Direct foreign investment totaled to $ 6,9 billion (in 2015 - $ 7,2 billion), or 80,9% of all foreign investments received.

During 2016, the Belarusian organizations (except banks) sent investments amounting to $ 3,9 billion overseas (1,2 billion less than in 2015). The funds invested mainly in Russia (56,1% of all investments forwarded), Ukraine (22,8%) and the UK (10%). The share of direct investment was 91,2% of all investments forwarded abroad.

The maximum rate of foreign investment over the last 10 years was reached in 2011 - $18,9 billion, including direct investment of $ 13,3 billion; the minimum rate was in 2006 ($ 482,5 million). $14,4 billion was invested in 2012, $ 15 billion - in 2013 and 2014.
