On Freedom Day hundreds of people take part in the street rallies in Brest, Hrdna, Vitsebsk and Homel.

"I want to live in the country which is shown on TV," – one of the protesters says.

People approach to the monument to Karatkevich in Vitsebsk. Khrystafor Zheliapau and Haradok activist, chairman of Vitsebsk regional BPF organization Leanid Autukhou address the protesters.

Zheliapau says that Belarusians must speak Belarusian – this is the beginning of the national revival. He recalls the BNR period and the deeper history, saying that "when hens were running on in Moscow, we already had cities and palaces."

The rally comes to an end. People break up, 30-50 participants stay to listen to the activists.

Professor Ales Astrouski speaks in Hrodna. "Work is glorified in our culture. Belarusians are hard-working people. Authorities are trying to make us "parasites". 150 years ago, Kalinouski said: the government is for the people, not the people for the government. And then everything will be fine." The protesters applaud. "Let's say to the power – Belarus is our land, and we are its masters!". Protesters echo this call.

A meeting participant in Homel: "I'm not a parasite, I’m not comfortable with the fact that a mediocre person has been in power for 23 year. His company is merely the same. He has made, as he says himself, a feed trough and they all grunt around it. It is necessary to change the government."

Hrodna protester says: "We are people! It’s enough to endure! Land, freedom, bread, salt! We live in the 21st century, and I’m told – you have something to eat. But we live in the 21st century! We cannot wear bast shoes and ride in carts. We have some other needs than just to work, eat and sleep. A stoop and a piece of bacon won’t do any more! The unemployed are paid 800 euros in Finland. And we have to pay the tax on top!"

The Brest rally starts on Freedom Square. Heads of regional structures of the BPF Party, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party, the United Civil Party address the participants. They read a resolution, it states that the audience condemns the detentions of peaceful protesters to the decree № 3 and the journalists, who cover the events, express their disagreement with the decree № 3 and insist on its complete abolition, stand for favorable conditions for the creation of new jobs through the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
