"We Have Only One Way Out - To Change Regime"

The Belarusians have already climbed several steps up the ladder of freedom.

The co-chairman of the organizing committee for the creation of the party "Belarusian Christian Democracy" Paval Sieviarynets said this to Charter97.org.

– Not only environmental but also political demands were put forward at the Chernobyl Way-2017, which took place in Minsk yesterday. What do you think is the key to solving the problems which the Belarusians face today?

– More than 30 years have already passed since the explosion of Chernobyl NPP. But Belarus has not yet moved away from this "black pain": it's radiation, land pollution, and psychology, and diseases.

And at this time the Lukashenka's regime and its master in the Kremlin erect a Russian nuclear bomb, which is already "ticking", right next to our heart, in Astravets.

Therefore, we need to understand that there's only one way to change this situation. We can stop the construction of Astravets NPP only if we change the political regime in Belarus.

To understand this, one doesn't need to be too foresightful. Unambiguous signs are everywhere: the NPP was erected at the crust fractures, people die at the construction site, there's a burial ground of anthrax neat the NPP, the reactor is either dropped from a height, or beaten against the poles. Signs are everywhere. The Lord seems to be saying to us: "What are you doing? Do not build a second Chernobyl."

Therefore, the Chernobyl Way - 2017 was also the Astravets Way. We must take responsibility not only for the memory of the past, but also for the future of the Belarusians.

Therefore, Belarusian solidarity is the most important thing that we need today.

This is also solidarity with the patriots who are in prison charged with the fabricated White Legion Case. There is a radioactive Chernobyl, but there is also a political Chernobyl. When on March 25 the streets of the capital are deep black because of the police special forces - this is a political Chernobyl.

And we have only one way out – to change the regime of Lukashenka. We should show the strength of Belarusian solidarity and finally get rid of this regime. This is the only way to prevent the threat of the "second Chernobyl" in Belarus and to cope with the consequences of the first Chernobyl.

– In your opinion, have the Belarusians already demonstrated enough solidarity to solve these problems?

– Belarusians have made a huge step forward. I would say that we have climbed several steps up the ladder of freedom. And we have done this over the last several months.

We should keep going this way. It can be so, that the higher, the more difficult it will be getting, but Belarusians should go this path to the end with dignity.
