Moscowites "Brought Down" Mascouski Bus Terminal Into A Wet Fart!

It marked exactly three years since the destruction of the Mascouski bus terminal – the "station of the future"

Russian Gazprom secretly refused to finance the construction of its 32-story skyscraper on eight hectares at the site of the bus terminal that it had destroyed.

Meanwhile, it became clear that the destruction of the Mascouski bus terminal has grown into a large-scale transport infrastructure catastrophe in the capital.

I am walking along the blue fence twice as tall as a man and ask the on-coming Minskers if they know what was behind the fence earlier. It turns out that they, young and old, know, remember and do not hide indignation by the authorities – both Belarusian and Moscow ones. Like, first, it is associated with additional economic transplantation expenses for passengers, second – with the loss of time to orient, what stops to take to get to a place.

Among other things, most of the former Mascouski routes are concentrated at the Tsentralny bus station – a small patch, an auto-basement, where there is no ventilation, which is overcrowded...

Together with ex-leader of the initiative group against the Mascouski bus terminal destruction, former deputy of the Minsk City Council, applicant for receiving the State Prize of the country in the field of science and technology Viktar Taumachou we’ve climbed to the highest point near the observatory.

There are huge cranes, one guard and ragged blocks of land. It’s a total incomplete construction over there, as seen in the photographs.

– Viktar, all the 4 years of your initiative group existence, you predicted that the construction would turn into a wet fart…

Yes! The authorities ignored 8,000 signatures of passengers from all over Belarus "against" the construction. But the first part of Lukashenka's decree No. 52 "On the construction of a multifunctional complex" was executed. However, it is now clear that the destruction of the Mascouski bus terminal has become a large-scale transport infrastructure catastrophe.

It was seen unprofitable for Belarus – the Russians promised compensation for the demolition of $ 17 million, and the station now would have cost all 30! This is without taking into account its future depreciation. The most unpleasant thing is a rent of one and a half dollar per square meter, if it were built. And this is in the center of the capital!

That is, Gazprom, if there's anything, will pay a miserable amount of 300 thousand dollars a year. And the cost of transfer of a million passengers, which was carried out by the Mascouski bus terminal, is 4 times more – 1 million 200 thousand dollars. By the way, according to our Civil Code, such a treaty can be unilaterally canceled. Minsk must regain the Mascouski bus terminal.

Famous architect Mikalai Naumau received the State Prize from Lukashenka’s hands personally and 5 international awards for the project of the good-looking station.
