Belarus' National Debt Reaches 39.8 Billion Rubles

In July, the national debt rose by 100 million rubles.

As of August 1, it reached 39.8 billion rubles, belmarket.by reports quoting the Ministry of Finance. Since the beginning of the year, the national debt has grown by 7.6%, or by 2.8 billion rubles.

The external debt of Belarus did not change during July and amounted to 15.6 billion dollars. The external debt will increase after August due to the receipt of a Russian loan of $ 700 million.

For seven months of the year, Belarus attracted external state loans in the amount of $ 2.57 billion, including $ 1.4 billion from Eurobonds, $ 600 million from EDB, $ 300.4 million from the government and Russian banks, $ 176.6 million dollars from Chinese banks, 92.6 million from the World Bank, 2.9 million from the EBRD and NIB.

In July, the country received $ 170 million, including $ 52.2 million from the government and Russian banks, $ 93.1 million from Chinese banks, and $ 22.2 million from the World Bank.

During the same period, Belarus repaid 653 million dollars of foreign loans, including $ 226.8 million returned to the government of the Russian Federation, $ 176.6 million – to EDB, $ 217.5 million – to Chinese banks, $ 31.2 million – dollars to the World Bank, 700 thousand – to the USA, 200 thousand – to the EBRD and NIB.

In July, Belarus paid 145 million dollars of loans and interest, including 44.1 million dollars – to banks and the government of Russia, and 100.3 million dollars – to Chinese banks.

The internal state debt as of August 1 amounted to 9.5 billion rubles. For January-July of 2017 domestic currency government bonds for legal entities and individuals were placed for the amount of 406.7 million US dollars. Repayment of foreign currency and ruble government bonds for legal entities and individuals amounted to $ 897.9 million and 120.5 million rubles.
