Lukashenka Ran Dry

But there are two places reserved in the Hague.

Putin's refusal to send his minister Shoigu to the Borisovsky training area for monitoring West-2017 exercises with Lukashenka is left without an explanation of the Belarusian dictator.

But Lukashenka introduced a rather shocking explanation of his absence on September 16 at the Luzhsky training area near St. Petersburg. "Will we die together (Putin and Lukashenka - Ed.) if a shell falls? We agreed that the Russian president would monitor and observe the exercises in the north, and I'm already here," the dictator said.

Charter97.org asked for comments of documentary director and public activist Volha Mikalaichyk.

- A film director is also a little a psychologist. A person rarely makes occasional statements. What do you think Lukashenka meant?

- I don't think that Putin was fond of the idea to die in the same shell pit. Maneuvers is a part of a large-scale war to him with a minor role of Lukashenka in it. The ruler of Russia is full of his own anti-human plans.

But Lukashenka gives a signal that he has run dry. These exercises are both a terrible and exiting, and, therefore, extremely important moment. On the one hand, he's afraid that Putin will completely deprive him of independence leaving a part of troops in Belarus. On the other hand, he's afraid of showing lack of fidelity to his Kremlin's master. Third, he's afrid of the Hague and the West which can send him there. And finally, he's afraid of the Belarusian people who proved their strength during spring protests this year.

Here is such a desperate situation, until you are blue in the face. And Lukashenka told about it.

The ruler demonstrated his phobias, his internal swamp he is sitting in like a frog king and anxiously looking around.

This sticky, oppressive fear has become a part of him over 23 years. And he expressed his last hope - to die with his suzerain, not to be the one tried in The Hague. But, my dear, there are two places reserved in the Hague. They will have to be in the dock together, and I sincerely wish them to stay alive till that time.

- Symbols also play a significant role in your profession. Including the symbolism of things. What do you think of the symbol - Defence Minister Raukou presented Lukashenka with a loaded pistol near Barysau...

- The dictator behaves like a silly child - he wants the pistol very much, but he is scared of shooting. And it will surely "shoot". All the consequences of his low-skilled and short-minded policy will find their way to the surface.

Lukashenka believes that he just plays "the war" and everything will be fine. And his inner circle, his generals subconsciously say: you've made a lot of blunders, my friend. Shoot back if you dare now. And leave the last bullet for yourself.

It's not a gaudy lot: even generals do not want to be responsible for dictator's deeds. They do not present Lukashenka with watches of $50 000: "Sasha, here is the pistol; you've invited the war with your own people, now you're the one to deal with it."

And Sasha is hooked up. He likes to play "militancy" in public. In fact, it is a pseudo-masculinity and a low-skilled game of an outrageous collective farmer. Real men go for war in silence not showing off pistols: they go to protect their homeland trying to remember their dear people, their beloved woman, their child. They have no time for showing-off.

People like Lukashenka can shoot only in the back. Let him play with the pistol for a while, people will soon make him forget about it. After all, the country is in a destructive economic crisis and people will not stand it for long.
