Photo Fact: Entrance To Ministry Of Information Blocked Again In Minsk

The entrance was unblocked only with the use of special tools.

The Ministry of Information was again blocked in Minsk today. State propagandists and censors hurrying to work were greeted with padlocks and chains on the doors, as well as excerpts from the Constitution and the Declaration of Human Rights on the columns of the building in the Peramozhtsau Avenue. Employees of the ministry could not get inside for a long time. Unblocking the entrance turned out to be possible only with the use of tools, the “Basta” Telegram-channel reports.

“For almost a year, the access to the Charter97.org website has been blocked at the territory of Belarus, journalists of the Belsat TV channel are regularly detained, employees of other media are persecuted. The authorities also introduced the restrictions on comments on the Internet. Today, on the Human Rights Day, we want to remind people working in this building that all these actions aimed at restricting the dissemination of information are illegal, and they will have to answer for them sooner or later,” one of the protesters said.

This is not the first time Belarusians block the Mininform. On April 20, 2018, a chain appeared on the door of the Ministry, alongside with the words “Blocked for the violation of the Constitution”.

Important to note, on January 24, the Lukashenka regime blocked the independent information resource Charter97.org. The blocking was confirmed by the first deputy minister of information Ihar Lutski. The Ministry of Information is headed by Aliaksandr Karliukevich.

It will be recalled that on September 3 editor-in-chief of Charter-97 Natallia Radzina announced the threat to informational resource cause by drastic reduction in financing and called readers for solidarity. Ways to support the website:
