Mikola Kupava: EU Representatives To Be Invited To Celebrate The BPR's 100th Anniversary
MIKOLA KUPAVA

Everything is done to ensure that the events on the Freedom Day are dignified and peaceful.

The artist Mikola Kupava, who is also the secretary of the organizing committee of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the BPR, spoke at a press conference of the National Organizing Committee in Minsk, Charter97.org correspondent reported.

Mikola Kupava summed up the activities of the organization throughout the year and told about the events that take place as a part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic both in Belarus and abroad.

The artist said that the organizing committee is trying to install a memorial plaques in honor of the anniversary on the Yanka Kupala theater and on Valadarsky Street.

"We also proposed to rename Valadarsky Street in Brothers Lutskevich Street. We have been fighting for it since May, but no results so far. The red tape drags on. It is clear that this will not be decided yet. The board is ready, it is not a problem to hang it. If it becomes clear that the authorities will not do this, we will make a cardboard layout and will install it for at least a day to lay flowers there," – Mikola Kupava said.

A solemn meeting and a concert in one of the prestigious halls of Minsk is also scheduled for March 24.

According to Mykola Kupava, the representatives of the BNR Council, including the Speaker of the Rada Ivonka Survilla, were invited to Minsk. Representatives of the EU countries will be invited as well. Everything is done to ensure that the event is peaceful and festive.
