KGB Detained Lukashenka’s Assistant

The assistant was detained red-handed when receiving a bribe.

Lukashenka’s assistant, inspector for Hrodna region, Siarhei Rauneika was detained red-handed while extorting and receiving a bribe of $ 200,000. This is reported by the KGB press service, tut.by writes.

"Rauneika got in sight of operational units more than a year ago in connection with information about repeated facts of receiving bribes from various persons for resolving the issues falling under his competence. With the approval of the head of state, an operational search was carried out to document the illegal activities of the official. When receiving a bribe, he was detained with money in his hands," – the department says.

The KGB opened a criminal case against Rauneika under Part 3 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, its sanction provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years.

The suspect has been placed into the KGB jail and is giving a confession.

Currently, the necessary operational search and investigative actions, aimed at establishing all the facts and participants in unlawful activities, are being carried out.
