The Mozyr Election Commission Afraid of the Words of European Belarus

Mikhail Bandarenka does not leave ballot riggers in peace.

District Election Commission of Mozyr district No.42 amended the information about Mikhail Bandarenka, who represents European Belarus during the elections when issuing information about candidates. The complaint, filed by the candidate, says.

According to Bandarenka, not only his rights as a candidate but also the rights of voters to unbiased information about candidates are violated.

The complaint says the information on Bandarenka's candidacy does not indicate what party he represents (the information about other candidates indicates it). There is no information about the place of work. The commission removed the white-red-white background on the photo and changed the text. "They did not mention the place of work as if I were a parasite and the party I belong to," the candidate told BelaPAN.

Bandarenka reminds that candidates, according to the law, are in equal legal conditions, and the district commission must control it. Information leaflets should be objective and unbiased. No preference should be given to particular candidates.

The candidate asked the commission to place unbiased information regarding his biography, a photo on a white-red-white background and his opinion addressed to voters in the local newspaper "Zhytstsyo Palessia".

"All candidates are nominated and registered by political parties. Three candidates have this mentioned in their leaflets. Except for the BPF candidate. He is, so to speak, "innocently registered". The text of his address to voters was "castrated," observer Vladimir Telepun told BelaPAN.

On 11 November he took part in the consideration of the complaint by the district commission. "The head of the commission claimed that the text in the leaflet was presented by the candidate. The white-red-white background was removed to make it the same for all candidates. These actions not only violated the rights of the candidate but also misled voters. I think it indicates incompetence of commission members," Telepun added.
