Verkhniadzvinsk Police Officers’ Assailant Faces Supreme Measure Of Punishment

A criminal case has been started against him.

The Verkhniadzvinsk district department of the Investigatory Committee has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 14, Article 362 of the Criminal Code (“Attempted murder of internal affairs officers”) against an 18-year-old student, who on January 1 threw a Molotov cocktail into the territory of the Verkhniadzvinsk branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Security Department, and wounded police officers. - The investigation has established that in the morning of January 1, 2020, acting out of hooligan motives, the youngster grossly violated public order near the Verkhniadzvinsk branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Security Department. The officer on duty at the department immediately transmitted information about this to the nearest police brigade. During the detention, the young man resisted and caused stab wounds to two police officers who arrived at the call, Onliner quotes the Investigatory Committee’s Telegram channel.

The investigation team examined the scene. Investigators found two glass containers with liquid with the smell of fuels and lubricants that the guy managed to throw into the territory of the department. The seized objects have been sent for expertise. The student was assigned a comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination.

- The necessary medical assistance was provided to the police officers, nothing threatens their life and health. An urgent investigative action is currently being carried out with the suspect. The investigation continues, - they said in the Investigatory Committee.
