More Than 80 Belarusian Companies Are Interested in Transferring Business to Lithuania

Lithuanian investment experts called the situation unprecedented.

More than 80 Belarusian companies, including dozens from the IT sector, are interested in transferring their business to Lithuania, reports the Delfi portal with reference to the data of the State Agency Investuok Lietuvoje ("Invest in Lithuania").

"At the moment we have received more than 80 inquiries, we are actively communicating with several dozen companies, their number is constantly changing. Demands from companies working in the field of high technologies prevail, but there are also players from other sectors," said Mantas Katinas, General Director of Invest in Lithuania.

Now, the main competitors of Lithuania for Belarusian specialists' employment are Poland, Latvia, and Ukraine, said the head of Invest in Lithuania.

The press secretary of the Infobalt Association Paulus Yakutavičius said that in Belarusian companies interested in transferring business to Lithuania, there are only about 1600 employees: these are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, "from a start-up to a medium-sized company with a hundred employees."

"For such companies, we have offers: offices, accommodation, market, opportunities for cooperation," said Yakutavičius and called the current situation unprecedented, as before, individual entrepreneurs or specialists were interested in Lithuania, but now they are entire companies.

At the same time, Lithuanian experts draw attention to the still complicated immigration procedure, which is an obstacle for Belarusian companies. Now in Lithuania, they are improving the procedure for a quick process of moving and investing, thinking about eliminating unnecessary documents, simplifying the procedure for issuing visas and requirements for employees' qualifications.
