Lithuania Reported On Whether They Open Borders For Belarusians

Several options are being considered.

Lithuania is preparing for the second wave of coronavirus: there is a high risk that the number of cases will increase in autumn. But the borders are already being opened, and one can think over options for Belarusians to get to Lithuania. This has been stated by head of the Center for infectious diseases and AIDS Saulius Čaplinskas in an interview with Delfi.

Lithuania has opened its borders with the Baltic States, while discussing the opening of borders with other countries in mid-June. The issue of opening the border with Belarus hasn't been raised yet, but head of the Center for infectious diseases and AIDS Saulius Čaplinskas believes that there are options for the admission of Belarusians in Lithuania.

- If we talk about Belarus, there are important economic and human ties there. Why not introduce a passport or COVID-19 certificate? If you want to go through, undergo a check and show it," - the professor believes.

Also, according to him, the equipment may appear at the border with the help of which one may perform a coronavirus test within 30 minutes.

"There are other ways, and one shouldn't be afraid to use them," - Čaplinskas noted.
