Europe Increases Pressure on Cockroach

The tribunal is being discussed loud and clear.

Recent days have been under "Why is Europe keeping silence?" And these voices are heard from Belarusians and Europeans, reports CYNIC telegram channel.

The bureaucratized system of Europe bites its tail. It is self-locking, so one of the problems of "big unions" becomes apparent - slow reaction.

To fix the problem, one has to notice it. In this regard, the speech of the former Estonian president was certainly impressive. He said that European politicians, being the bait of Russian oligarchic structures, are creating convenient conditions for their execution.

Russia has practised the old method - inserting into a corruption scheme, putting a noose around the neck of every ideologically weak politician. We are all human beings and are all vulnerable. Russia used this vulnerability to turn us into willing and unwilling defenders of the "eastern monster".

With each such speech, this ice starts melting. The Pandora Papers have outlined the circle of individuals under scrutiny. One should recognise that these persons do not exist in a Russian vacuum but also have deals with the Western world. Here the obscure behaviour in some of the cases will be monitored. It is exactly what the Pandora Papers suggest - the West gets a second lever of pressure "on its own", so neither Russia nor Belarus, can deliver ultimatums.

If earlier people talked about the tribunal quietly, yesterday they did it loud and clear. The process may be long and thorny, but the process is on.

The old "hole-in-the-wall sanctions" are being supplemented by dangerous American sanctions. We see large corporations trying to find "alternative allies" outside Belarus. They do it not for reasons of humanity, but for capital security - "double sanctions" frighten even the most pragmatic representatives of the market.

For those who like to cry, "we lost", - the new package of European sanctions is synchronized with the US sanctions block. It has been known (and announced) all along.

Europe itself laughs that it has largely played the pressure before.

It is a crucial precedent. It's not just politicians discuss "soft" positions, but also their electorate. Any European politician acts in the name of an electorate, so one must respond to the request for a solution to the 'migrant crisis'.

It means Europe will escalate pressure in the name of its pragmatic interests - for politicians to keep their positions and for voters to get satisfaction. A democratic Belarus is trivially more profitable than a totalitarian Belarus and a border breach with a nuclear threat to "get back at the world".
