New Tactics: Belarusian Special Services Secretly Prepare Mass Attack Of Migrants On Poland

They are trying to lull the vigilance of the Polish border guards.

"The Belarusian side is lulling our vigilance in order to attack again at some point - perhaps during the Christmas holidays - believing that there will be fewer of our patrols then. On the contrary, we are even more vigilant," said Polish Border Guard spokesman Anna Michalska on TVP Info.

Anna Michalska notes that the officers of the Polish Border Guard Service have seen fewer attempts to cross the Polish-Belarusian border illegally.

According to her assessment, the reduction of this number could indicate that the migration pressure is decreasing due to the deteriorating weather conditions. At the same time, she added that it could also mean that the Belarusian side wants to lull the vigilance of the Polish services in order to attack again at some point.

Will migrants attack at Christmas?

Michalska pointed out that perhaps such a moment would be the Christmas holidays, because the Belarusian side can count on the Polish-Belarusian border to be less secure then. As she assured, it will be the other way around.

"We will be even more vigilant," she said. She added that the Polish Border Guard also foresees a scenario where the migration wave will return in the spring.

"We are seeing fewer and fewer attempts to cross the border illegally, although we keep stressing that those groups of migrants, who now come to the border, are very well prepared by the Belarusian authorities. They are equipped with various tools, we often find dangerous tools with them," said Anna Mikhalskaya.

She added that foreigners attack the Polish special services by throwing stones or firecrackers.

"These are very dangerous situations; we have not seen this at the beginning of the migration wave, i.e. the beginning of August. These groups were large then, but there was not the aggression that we are witnessing now," assessed Anna Mikhalskaya.

"We observe that the Belarusian secret services also look for different ways, methods to help illegal migrants cross the border, to facilitate their crossing the Polish border. This is probably because the Belarusian side was surprised by the decisive position of the Polish services. It makes them look for new ways to break through the border," she said.

She added that the Polish border guards see attempts of the Belarusian special services to reduce their vigilance, who "in one place are preparing an illegal crossing (...), setting up ladders, cutting wires, and in a few kilometers trying to throw it (a group of migrants - ed.) across the border".
