The US Embassy Will Provide Legal Assistance to the Detained KGB Ziankovich

The arrest of lawyer Yury Ziankovich in Moscow became known on April 13.

In connection with the detention of Yury Ziankovich, who has the US and Belarusian citizenship, the embassy stressed that they are always ready to provide consular services in the event of the arrest of an American citizen, tut.by reports.

The diplomats did not assess the detention of the American citizen by the Belarusian special services and did not say whether the consul had already visited Ziankovich in the KGB pre-trial detention center.

“One of the most important tasks of the Department of State, US Embassies and Consulates is to provide assistance to US citizens who are imprisoned or detained abroad. According to the current practice, we do not transfer information about US citizens without their written consent,” said Tim O'Connor, press attaché of the US Embassy in Belarus.
